DANES IN FRONT ROW AT THE OSCARS
"Burma VJ", the awardwinning documentary, and "The New Tenants", a short film, are nominated for an Academy Award
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences have announced their Oscar-nominees. Two Danish films have been nominated. Furthermore Danish director Lone Scherfig ("Italian for Beginners") is nominated in three categories for her British production.
Burma VJ and The New Tenants
Director Anders Østergaard and producer Lise Lense-Møller (Magic Hour Films) are nominated in the category of Documentary Feature for "Burma VJ", now with over 40 international awards. Director Joachim Bach and Oscar-winning producer Tivi Magnusson (M&M Productions) are nominated in the category of Short Film (Live acton).
Lone Scherfig's British production An Education
One of art-cinema's most talked-about films in recent months is "An Education" by Lone Scherfig. All of three Oscar nominations go to this British production:
Best Picture: producers Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey
Best Actress in a leading role: Carrey Mulligan
Best writer (Adapted screenplay): Nick Hornby
The Oscars will be presented on 7 March 2010.
